Natural Medicine Facilitator Training Program Applications Now Open

Denver, CO – The Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), Division of Professions and Occupations has opened applications for Natural Medicine Facilitator Training Programs (NMTP). 

To apply to be a Facilitator Training Program, please visit the application webpage. This page has important information about applying, including a checklist for applicants. It also contains the required Program Director Affidavit.  Those applying for a Facilitator Training Program certification should carefully review all materials before beginning an application. Applications expire one year after the date of submission. Submitting an incomplete application can delay program approval. 

Facilitator Training Programs are certified by DORA to provide approved training to allow individuals to gain licensure as a Natural Medicine Facilitator. These programs must be pre-approved or certified by DORA before they are able to begin holding classes. 

To apply for certification as a Facilitator Training Program, an applicant must: 

  • Submit payment of the required application fee via credit card. All fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Upload documentation of the following:
    • An Organizational Chart
    • A Mission Statement
    • The purpose and outcome competencies for the training program
    • The standards of recruitment, advertising and refunding of tuition and fees
    • Student policies
    • A plan on how the training program will support the following:
      • Student behavioral and physical health
      • Learning
      • Equitable access
      • Career advisement
      • Disability accommodations
  • Upload the completed Facilitator Training Program Director Affidavit.
  • Upload job descriptions for each faculty position.
  • Upload a detailed curriculum of the Training Program showing that the program meets the minimum requirements of 150 hours of coursework composed of the following topics:
    • Facilitator Best Practices (5 hours)
    • Ethics and Colorado Natural Medicine Rules and Regulations (25 hours)
    • Relation Boundaries and Introduction to Physical Touch (10 hours)
    • Physical and Mental Health and State (25 hours)
    • Drug Effects, Contraindications, and Interactions (5 hours)
    • Introduction to Trauma Informed Care (10 hours)
    • Introduction to Suicide Risk (5 hours)
    • Indigenous, Social, and Cultural Considerations (10 hours)
    • Screening (5 hours)
    • Preparation (10 hours)
    • Administration (10 hours)
    • Integration (10 hours)
    • Group Facilitation (10 hours)
    • Facilitator Development and Self-Care (10 hours)

The current fee for initial certification as a Facilitator Training Program is $10,000. Fees are based on DORA’s cost of providing services and are re-set annually. The Facilitator Training Program certification must be renewed annually.
