Denver, CO - Commissioner John Gavan (one of three Colorado Public Utilities Commissioners) will be holding a regional public meeting on utility issues and “Clean Heat Plans” in Grand Junction on Wed., July 27 and Thurs., July 28 in Montrose, Colo.

Gavan is holding a community meeting at Colorado Mesa University, University Center, Meyer Ballroom, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. He’ll be joined by local leaders and the Public Service Company of Colorado, to discuss the future of gas and clean heat requirements for gas utilities.

The following day, Gavan will host a similar community meeting at the Montrose Events Center, located at 648 South First St., Montrose. He’ll be joined by local leaders and Black Hills Colorado Gas. Food will be provided at both events.

What are Clean Heat Plans?

Gas utility companies are now required to submit Clean Heat Plans to the Colorado Public Utilities Commission beginning in 2023. The plan must demonstrate how the gas utility will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by four percent in 2025, and 22 percent by 2030, based on a 2015 baseline. Plans can include numerous options to meet requirements. (For more information on Clean Heat Plans, click here: (https://puc.colorado.gov/cleanheatplans .)
